Growing Through the Spirit - Listening & Obeying

Memory Verse:
Romans 8:6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.

Jesus was full of the Holy Spirit and led by the Holy Spirit
Luke 4:1

Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.

We are called to be (disciples) like Jesus
Luke 14:12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

The turning point from the natural to the supernatural in your life is the receiving and living in the Holy Spirit.

Jesus started his ministry after his baptism
Matthew 3:16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him.

The disciples started their ministry after their baptism in the Holy Spirit
Acts 2:4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

Acts 2:38, Acts 5:12

Jesus came to give us life and the power to win over sin and death!
Is Christianity merely a set of doctrines and beliefs or is Christianity a life filled with victory over sin and death? Is your life filled with ought to’s and better not’s or is your life filled with power?

Acts 1:8 You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you.

Welcoming the Holy Spirit in your life is vital to you having the power to live a victorious Christian life!

Jesus’ last conversation with his disciples before his ascension
Acts 1:4-5, 8-9 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Romans 8:13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.

Romans 8:6, John 7:37-39

Our faith in Christ saves us, our receiving the Holy Spirit empowers us!
